Global Exhibitions Day 2019
Now a days, most of the important things in life are celebrated with having their own worldwide day. Of course, international fairs, exhibitions and events have their own since they are a great economic engine worldwide. As professional exhibition stand builders we know that they are claimed as a powerful marketing tool available to companies and professionals.
The global exhibition industry, to which Mac Group belongs as worldwide exhibition stand builders, held on Tuesday the Global Exhibitions Day 2019 (International Day of the Fairs) an initiative that has been promoting the Global Association of The Exhibition Industry (UFI) for four years. This day aims to highlight the importance of fair activity, its effects and its global economic and social impact, coming from an industry that helps to grow a huge number of companies, including some of the exhibition stand builders sector, as is our case.
This initiative has been carried out in more than 85 countries with a wide variety of different activities around the world. Specifically in Spain, the Association of Spanish Fairs (AFE) has supported the celebration of the event and all the activities that have been held. Its president, Xabier Basañez, said that during that day “we revendicated the importance of the fair activity and its economic and social impact. Fairs are one of the most effective marketing tools available to companies, professionals and the general public, which facilitate business relationships by bringing together producers and buyers at one and the same time to interact face to face. Our sector and our collective exhibition stand builders actively joins the celebration of this important day in coordination with representatives of many other countries around the world. But, which is the real meaning of celebrating an International Day of Fairs and Exhibitions?
Fairs are a large global industry that keeps growing year after year. International exhibitions are an effective and sustainable way of doing business. If managed properly they can contribute to create a sustainable world and it is part of a sector that can offer different job opportunities.
The trade fair sector in numbers
Some time ago a study of Oxford Economics was published out on the dimension of the global trade fair industry. According to the report sent by the UFI, 32,000 fairs were organized with more than 4.5 million exhibitors and 303 million visitors, generating sales of 275,000 million euros and a GDP of 167,000 million (direct, indirect and induced impact). It is estimated that about 3.2 million direct and indirect jobs have been generated in the fair & events sector in general, of which we are aware as professional exhibition stand builders.
According to data from the AFE, the figures in Spain are also surprisingly large. We could highlight around 600 annual fairs with 60,000 exhibitors and 8 million visitors. The economic impact is estimated at around 5,000 million euros. As professional exhibition stand builders we know well that in Spain there are 45 fairgrounds that together make up a total covered area that exceeds 1.5 million square meters, a figure that never ceases to amaze us.
Sustainability in the exhibition stand design and build for fairs and events
As expert exhibition stand builders in Barcelona we must add that one of the most important institutions in the sector in Barcelona, Fira de Barcelona, also wanted to participate in the Global Exhibitions Day, highlighting in this edition sustainability as a value for the fair management and in the boost of sustainable events. As professional exhibition stand builders, Mac Group supports and promotes the exhibition stand design and build by using sustainable materials and contributing to this global cause.
Fira de Barcelona’s commitment to sustainability has resulted in finding more efficient solutions for the events it organizes and in encouraging the responsible consumption of resources during its celebration. In addition, various salon organizations such as Smart City, IoT Solutions World Congress, BBConstrumat and many others promote knowledge for professionals and citizens of the latest developments that combine technology and energy efficiency. From Mac Group we’ve been and we will continue participating in the next editions of these world congresses making the design and assembly of stands in tune with the values and work philosophy that these fairs promote. And, of course, we’ll keep celebrating the Global Exhibition Day next years!
